Newsletter Index April 2004 Front Page Now Gorika (not his real name) was a missionary for the church in the Gimi tribe in the highlands of New Guinea. He already knew the language of the tribe over the mountains. "God is sending me to them. I must go for another visit!" he told her. His wife could no longer make these 2 week journeys, now that they had 2 children. He was thankful she supported him in prayer. The church in Gimi would help take care of her while he was gone, and she had a ministry with the women at home. Those villages over the mountains needed the gospel, too.

The hike from the Gimi tribe to the neighboring tribes is arduous. There are 3 mountain streams to cross, where the bridges are nothing but slippery felled trees. The missionary I talked to said that from the middle of the bridge you can hear the water rushing underneath, but you cannot see it because the gorge is too deep. However, these people are committed to reaching their neighbors with the gospel, trusting God to protect them from the dangers.
